The Midwestern Region PSEA-Retired Back to School, But Not For Us! Picnic is scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 2026.

Food, Bingo, Corn-hole, Conversation and Fun! Fairground Market will be catering. Thanks to the Region Retired Officers and County Retired Presidents for their hard work in making this annual event a success. Registration information was share at the Spring meetings and via email.

Cost Of Living Adjustment Legislation continues to be a Key Priority Issue for PSEA and PSEA-Retired. 

Our pre-Act 9 retirees (retired before July 2001) drastically need a COLA! The PA General Assembly has not approved COLA legislation since 2002. 

House Bill 408 was amended on March 17, 2025 in the House.  House Bill 411 passed the House and has been sitting in the Senate Finance Committee since April 11, 2025.  

Senate Bill 721 was referred to the Senate Finance Committee on June 11, 2025.  

Watch for PSEA Alerts (email) to contact your local LEGISLATORS and ask them to SUPPORT and PASS a COLA for our pre-Act 9 members.

Sixteen Midwestern Region PSEA-Retired members attended the PSEA-Retired House of Delegates in Harrisburg on April 13 & 14, 2026.  A report from the meeting was shared at the May 20th Region meeting and via email.

The annual "Update for Retirees" on the PSERS HOP plan will be on October 27, 2025.  This is for members who selected (or are interested in) the Health Options Plan offered by our PA School Employees Retirement System.  Check your fall county newsletter for details on registering or call the MW Region Office at 800.942.8025.  No date has been selected for 2026. 

The 2026 NEA-Retired Annual Meeting and the NEA Representative Assembly will be held in June and July of 2026 in Denver, Colorado.  Our two Midwestern Region PSEA-Retired delegates will be Terri Majors and Marcie Agostinelli.  Reports from both meetings will be emailed to MW Region PSEA-Retired members in late July.

Active members can join as Pre-Retired members now.  Members retiring this year can join now.  Contact your PSEA Region Office or ask you local president for information.

The PA Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026

Through PSEA's Political Action Committee for Education (PACE), your colleagues interview and recommend candidates who support public education.  Please support these candidates and encourage your family, friends, and colleagues to do the same.
